The second and final day of testing at the Portimao circuit in Portugal saw Shane Byrne (Sterilgarda Go Eleven Ducati) power to the quickest time overall. American Ben Spies also showed he means business with second quickest time on his first outing for the Yamaha Motor Italia WSB team, just three-tenths behind. Third quickest time of the day went to Max Biaggi (Aprilia), who worked a lot on the settings of the new four-cylinder machine from the Noale manufacturer. The Italian was followed by two more Yamahas, the R1s of Britian's Tom Sykes and Japanese SBK champion Katsuyuki Nakasuga. Leon Haslam (Honda Stiggy) and Alex Polita (Sterilgarda Go Eleven Ducati) were next up, followed by Roberto Rolfo (Honda Stiggy), while both Régis Laconi and Lorenzo Lanzi, who are both currently without a ride for next year, appeared on the DFX Corse Honda machines.
Unofficial times: 1. Shane Byrne (Ducati) 1'43"6; 2. Ben Spies (Yamaha) 1'43"9; 3. Max Biaggi (Aprilia) 1'44"1; 4. Tom Sykes (Yamaha) 1'44"5; 5. Nakasuga (Yamaha) 1'44"5; 6. Alex Polita (Ducati) 1'44"6; 7. Leon Haslam (Honda) 1'44"6; 8. Roberto Rolfo (Honda) 1'45"0; 9. Regis Laconi (Honda) 1'45"4; 10. Lorenzo Lanzi (Honda) 1'46"3.
Det verkar som Biaggi hänger med bra där, men att Byrne på Biaggis gamla hoj e ännu vassare. Dock, Biaggi på ny hoj(både ny och ny för honom) "Shakey" Byrne på liknande hoj som han kört innan i år.
