Background
This is an all-new championship aimed at
younger riders with limited experience. The
intent is that competitors should not
have had more than three years road racing
prior toparticipation in the Yamaha R6 Cup
Technical regulations
Standard 2003 Yamaha R6 machines will be
used. Minimal adjustments will be permitted,
and only certain parts may be changed
Akrapovic exhaust, Race Bodywork, Race
Rear set and Tyres. No modifications to
either Gearing or Suspension will be
permitted.
The tyre allocation has been decided in
conjunction with Dunlop Motorsport,the
official tyre supplier to the R6 Cup. The
allocation will be reviewed at each circuit
and adjustments made if required,
but normally it will be one front and
two rears.
Tyres will be new at the start of the first
practice session, with the rear being
changed prior to race-day morning
warm up. No wet tyres will be
available. No tyre warmers will be
used.
Staffing
The Yamaha R6 Cup will employ full and
part-time staff to maintain and run the series.
No outside work or maintenance will be
allowed. There will be six team leaders, with
helpers, each responsible for six riders. The
Team leader will be allocated to the rider
for the year, so establishing good
working relationships.
Eligible riders
Riders must hold an ACU Full Clubmans
Licence, SACU Qualifiers Licence or National
Licence issued by a member of the EU.
Riders with an International Licence or
other licence
issued outside the EU will not be accepted.
(Riders who obtain an International Licence
during the 2003 season may apply for
dispensation). ACU or SACU Novice Licence
holders may be considered dependant on
experience.
Riders must be over 16 years of age and
under 23 years of age (that is not to
have reachedtheir 23rd birthday) on the
1st March 2003. Riders who finished in
the top three of the 2002 Junior
Superstock Championship or
National 125 Championship are excluded.
Riders must not have competed in the
British Superbike Championship or finished
in the top ten of any British or National
Supersport or Superstock Championship.
Points scoring
Points will be awarded to the first 15
finishersof a race on the basis of:
25-20-16-13-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1
Starting grid
Derived on the basis of performance in the
two timed qualifying sessions, with four
riderson each row of the grid.
