The first generation R6 was built with the same development target of today's R-series:
* Highest power
* Lowest weight
* Unrivalled agility
The engineers started with a blank sheet of paper and made no compromise (following the philosophy of the first R1-see story in archive) A very compact aluminium chassis and an ultra compact high performance 4 cyclinder are the ingredients of this radical machine. The engine was the first production four stroke with a performance of more than 200 HP/litre (120 HP/13000rpm). Wheelbase was reduced to 1380 mm and dry weight to 169 kg. The machine super ceded its predecessors in all aspects and set the standards for supersport machines to come.

2001 YZF-R6
Based on the previous model the new version saw a couple of important changes both technical and styling. Most obvious was the new rear tail part with its LED tail lights.
Other changes included:
* Lighter pistons and modified connecting rods for better midrange response.
* The weight was reduced another 1.5 kg
* New specification tyres improved grip and handling
* U-lock space under the seat added
* Handlebar angle was changed for better comfort

f.ö. miltal spelar ingen roll då det inte säger något om skicket på den hojjen.. köp importerat då priset brukar vara bättre.. kolla på skicket.. håller hur länge som helst
Valde själv R6an.. möjligen inte lika bekväm som cbr men motorn ylar som fan och känns mer sportigare.. Men slutgiltigen kan man bara göra en sak det är att provköra båda o köpa den som känns bäst..

"I have a 2000 F4 and a friend with a 2001 R6.. The F4 has more torque noticeable by both of us. The R6 may be faster but we have never raced. The R6 is a smoother motor, but the F4 is certainly smooth enough. The R6 gets slightly better mpg. The R6 is slightly more leaned into the handlebars, but the difference is insignificant. The R6 feels smaller than the F4 although the dimensions are the same and the weight is within 5 lbs of each other, the F4 being heavier. The front tire on the R6 is smaller than the F4 and that may account for the feeling of being smaller. The R6 is definitely better looking than the Honda paint scheme. I think the R6 also handles side wind buffeting a little better than my F4 does at 70 + mph. I guess the fairing design is that much different. At 8-10 grand the R6 has more valve noise and the F4 has more intake noise.
To say that the F4 is more forgiving is simply opinion. There is just not that much difference."
