WCM teamets framtid

In the wake of the dismissal of their appeal against the FIM´s decision to disqualify their machine from the MotoGP World Championship, WCM have announced that they plan to continue developing their project for 2004 and will return to the series at Sachsenring in four weeks time. The likelihood is that the team run by Peter Clifford will run a pair of Honda 500 V-twins whilst they work on a new cylinder head and cassette gearbox version crankcases for the Harris WCM machine in Holland.

`Our research indicates that this new head will give us a significant power improvement and along with other elements of our continuing development we are confident that this can put us on the grid as exciting competitors from the beginning of next season,´ said Clifford. `We consider that this engine development is a possible precursor to becoming an engine supplier to other MotoGP teams as well. We have had a huge amount of interest from technical and financial partners that can ensure the engine´s successful development. Until the new head is ready we will do whatever is necessary to go racing´.

Deras förare behöver ju träna och hålla sig i gång på race, men visst känns det löjligt att de inte får köra sin egen hoj, men att det går bra att köra med en "gammal" V tvin 500 Honda som vem som helst kan köpa som har penger nog.
Anledningen att de inte får köra sin egen hoj var ju just den att den inte var " prototypmässig" nog.
Men en serie tillverkad ( nåja ) Honda går bra
