Hello all riders!!
Time for the forth round of Scandinavian Open series 2003. The run in Finland was quite good. 160 riders and over 1500 spectators made great races. A special greeting to Finland who won all classes.
Now for the races at Karlskoga:
Schedule: This year it’s a bit special. We have 3 races at 4 days. We start with the Norwegian championship at Thursday 24/7 (timed practice) together with them are 250 Racer and Rookie 600. This classes have their races at Friday 25/7 it’s the Scandinavian Open classes (SS600, Nordic SB, 125 Racer, STD 600, Rookie 1000) and Eurocup MCS. Look at the encl time schedule to find out your race schedule for the weekend. Of course you can ride in the Norwegian championship as well. The Norwegian classes are: Norwegian Superbike, 600 Production, 250 Racer, 250 Racer and Rookie 600 (also Scandinavian Open). Times: Scandinavian Open: Technical Control 16.00 – 21.00 (Thursday) and from 08.00 Sunday. Scrutineering is at the large red hall in the line up area. The Secretary’s office (at the Karlskoga Motorstadion office) opens from 16.00 - 20.00 Wednesday, and from 08.00 Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and Sunday from 08.30. (The riders who has practice at Thursday have their scrutineering at Wednesday 18.00 – 21.00 and Thursday 08.00 – 12.00. The secretaries office is open for them Wednesday 16.00 – 20.00 and Thursday 08.00 – 12.00)
Transponders/ holders: You need a transponder holder to the timekeeping box on your bike, it shall be placed at the lower part of the fork on the front wheel. If you don’t have one you can buy / rent one at the scrutineering. (60 SEK buy/rent). If you have a personal TranX 260 transponder on your MC, we hope you’ll use it. Notify us of your transponder number as soon as possible.

Practise: We have 2 hours pay practice 20 - 23rd of July (16.00-18.00). The practise is divided in groups, look at the official notice board at Karlskoga, (placed at the secretaries office). 2 passes for 140 SEK.
Pitlane: The pitlane is situated outside the track, Line Up for training/race is at the bottom part of the main pit area. The signalling platform for team is in front of the judges tower and downwards. When entering the track you’ll se a marshal with a green/red spade, it’s absolutely forbidden to go out on the track when you are shown the red signal. Between the pitlane exit and the track it’s a yellow line. It’s absolutely forbidden to cross that line, you will be punished. At the pitlane exit out on the track we will have a yellow flashing light when there are riders on the way out on the track. When you are out on the track, please notice people coming onto the track and leave room for them by riding in the middle of the track.
Entry to the track: We will this time use the same system as we do in Finland. We will let the riders out on the track 4 by 4 with a gap of 5-10 sec. This will apply on all practices/warm Up/races.
Jump start: According to the FIM regulation for jump start. The penalty wont be stop and go, it will instead be a 20 sec penalty time, added to the riders total time.
Results and points: Result from the Scandinavian Open races will be presented at Internet as soon as possible after each event on

www.scandinavianopen.com. We wont be sending you the point standings (it’s a lot of papers both in the Scandinavian Open series and the Nordic championship) just look at our homepage. If you don’t have internet, just pick up the lists in the secretaries office or call us so we can send the lists to you by fax or letter.
Special rulings at Karlskoga
1. All training and races is clockwise.
2. Pole Position is at the left hand of the grid.
3. Prize ceremony after each race in the paddock at the line up area. (Please be on time)
4. It is absolutely forbidden to make damage to the asphalt (track / pit). (or hole in the asphalt).
5. Maximum speed in the paddock is 20 km/h
6. Drivers briefing at the judges tower at 08.20 Thursday. Obligatory, non-attendance can mean a fine of 200 SEK and/or disqualification.
Remember: “Down is out” is a rule in Scandinavian Open.
Private cars: As you know we have a small paddock in Karlskoga, so we won’t let any private cars in to the pit area. If you riders and teams have private cars, please park them inside the entry to the racing track, on the right side. You will see the signs. Unneeded trailers can be parked by the fence in the grass area.
Washing: If you like to wash your MC there’s a water pole behind the toilets near the secretaries office. It’s only allowed to use water.
Water/dishes: Water/dishes at the corner of the toilets..
Toilets/Showers: A toilet/shower building for team and riders after the judges tower.
Environment station: An environment station for oil, petrol and used/broken batteries are placed next to the scrutiners. Do not leave used tyres, take them home. If you leave them we will send you a invoice for 200 SEK each.
Race Saturday 19/7: This year we have a race 19/7 in the SM series for 250 Sport Production, we also have a Stor Debutant race (Rookie 600 and Rookie 1000 together). To entry that race you need to send us an entry form and pay 700 SEK at our usual post giro. We will accept the 40 first entries complete with the starting fee. If you ride 250 Sport production and have made a series entry to the Swedish championship, you don’t need to send any extra entry form. The time schedule will be sent to the participants separately. Endurance: Even this year we will have an 4 hours endurance race at saturday 19/7. At least 2 persons in each team. Open for A and/or B riders. The endurance is one of the races in the ERF series. If you are interested to compete, please visit

Cancellation: . If you have entered any race and can’t participate, remember to mail or fax us your cancellation.
Stranddagarna: The success continues even this year with the big festival “Stranddagarna” in Karlskoga 23 – 26 July. Please visit
www.kanonrock.se to find out more about all the artists. We can offer you teams to buy tickets for a lower price. The ordinary price is 395 SEK, but you can buy tickets for 230 SEK (whole weekend). This year we also have buses to the festival, look at the notice board at Karlskoga for bus times.
Pit Stop Café: Is open every day 08.00 – , with a breakfast buffet, lunch and even evening meals. Beer is served after 12.00-. We have this weekend also the SMC nationals meeting. That means we have entertainment in our VIP tent both Friday and Saturday evening (25:th and 26:th of july).
