Resetips efterlyses!

Ska utomlands och vill optimera användandet av min telefon och padda. Båda är JB:ade.

Hur knör man lättast in film, tar hem i rätt (vilket format?) modell från början eller gör om vanlig film? Mediaspelare?

Hur bra fungerar gps utan 3G?

Hittade VLC hos Installous.

Apple Is Tracking You Again in iOS 6 (And How to Turn It Off

By Jamie Condliffe, Oct 12, 2012 4:43 AM

Business Insider is reporting that Apple's launch of iOS 6 brings with it not just Passbook and bad maps, but a new means of tracking user activity, too.

The report suggests that Apple has started tracking users again so advertisers can target them, using a new technology called "identifier for advertisers " (IFA). A random, anonymous number assigned to a user and their device, IFAs are temporary and can be blocked like cookies.

The number is used to pass specific adds to apps and web pages when you use your phone, and can be used by companies to identify when a user is looking at their ad and when they are "converted" and make a purchase. While IFAs don't identify you personally, they do provide a bunch of data about your browsing and purchasing habits.

Annoyingly, this tracking is switched on by default in iOS 6—but you can turn it off. Weirdly the option doesn't appear under the "Privacy" setting. Instead, go to "General," then "About," and then navigate to the "Advertising" section. From there, you need to to turn "Limit Ad Tracking" on. (That's a little counterintuitive, admittedly.)

So if you want to stick it to the man this morning, make sure IFAs aren't tracking your browsing. [Business Insider]

Apple offers targeted ad opt-out

Erica Sadun | Oct 11th 2012 2:00 PM EDT

Targeted ads present you with advertising keyed to your interests and history. If you're an Amazon customer, you've likely received emails related to your recent browsing choices. Gmail ads are based on your Google account contents. Apple is no different. iAds tracks you and offers ads that best match your profile.

Apple offers an opt-out choice if you'd rather be served random ads from their iAds service. To use it, first visit http://oo.apple.com from your device. Then set the switch from ON to OFF. You'll be asked to confirm. Tap the red "Opt Out" button.

When disabled, you'll still see iAds. However, these will not be tied to you or your specific interests in any way.

If at some time you feel the need to return to the previous state of things, you can always revisit the Opt Out page and update your settings.

The iExpander puts your iPhone on steroids

Do you ever wish your iPhone had better battery life, or expandable storage? How about a brighter flash, so it could take better pictures in low-light situations? Well let me introduce you to the iExpander.

The iExpander is a case for your iPhone that, believe or not, does all of these things. It has a built-in battery, a micro SD card slot, and an enhanced flash. Like the title says, it’s like steroids for your iPhone…

8a4a9unu.jpg

The iExpander is constructed of graphite reinforced nylon, which is both extremely durable and flexible. And despite all of its added features, the case only adds 6.33mm in thickness to your handset.

The built-in battery is of the Li Polymer variety, the same one Apple uses in the iPhone. And the micro SD card slot can read cards up to 64GB, and stores and transfers any iPhone-compatible content. The developers also seem pretty psyched about the case’s enhanced LED flash and its capabilities.

With just 8 days left to go in its Kickstarter funding round, the project has raised just $120,000 of its $125,00 goal. So if you’re interested in the iExpander, you’ll want to pledge $75 or more to get on board. The cool thing is, the pledge can go towards a case fit for the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, or yes, even an iPhone 5.

Though a lot of folks may find the iExpander to be overkill, or too bulky, it seems like the case will be a home run with power iPhone users. In fact, the extra battery alone is almost worth the money.

What do you think of the iExpander?

Finns till äldre iPhones i alla fall som en tethered JB (dvs kräver koppling mot dator vid omstart).

How to jailbreak iOS 6 with RedSn0w 0.9.15b1

As we reported a couple of days ago, RedSn0w 0.9.15b1 is now available to jailbreak A4 devices and below running iOS 6. This latest version is a pretty massive update with a lengthy change log, but the most important aspect about the update is the ability to jailbreak iOS 6 and install Cydia.

Previous iOS 6 jailbreaks required users to install Cydia manually, but the latest public version of RedSn0w works just as you might expect it would. Take a look inside for our full tutorial.

Hands on: Securing iOS, pwning your kids with Apple Configurator 1.2

How I used Apple's mobile device config update for entertainment and vengeance.

by Sean Gallagher - Oct 15 2012, 2:00am CEST

My teenage son's iPad, after being put into "supervised mode" by Apple Configurator.

Apple recently released the latest version of Configurator, the company's management software for iOS devices, for download in the Mac App Store. Configurator version 1.2 is intended to give organizations a way to mass-configure iPads, iPhones, and even iPods with applications, settings, and security policies. It's also, as it turns out, the perfect tool to prank a teenage son, teaching him the hazards of leaving his iPad unattended and of interrupting conference calls with extended drum solos.

Configurator version 1.2 is enhanced to take advantage of the enterprise management features in iOS 6. It provides all the policy configuration muscle Apple gives to mobile device management tool developers with its management interfaces, in a free Mac OS X application. That includes the ability to lock down the lock screen, put a device into "app lock" mode, making it boot straight into an application, and blocking users' access to the rest of iOS's features. All those features let you turn a device into a secure wireless kiosk, a point-of sale system, or (as I did to my son's iPad) a dedicated My Little Pony Ruckus Reader platform with an appropriately-themed lock screen.

Of course, I backed all his stuff up first. I'm not that evil.
